Key Dates
Municipal Elections in Alberta occur every four years on the third Monday in October. That means the next municipal election will be Monday October 20, 2025. To read about the Municipal Elections, please visit the Alberta Municipal Affairs website.

Complete your registration before Sept 15, 2025 to ensure your name is one the register.

Before Sept 15
- Visit Voterlink or
- Call toll-free by dialing 310-0000, then dial 780-427-7191.
After Sept 15
- Call the Delia Village Office at 403-364-3787.
- Check when you arrive at your voting station. Bring Authorized Identification.
Authorized ID
Did you miss the registration deadline of Sept 15? You can present AUTHORIZED IDENTIFICATION at the voting station on election day.
Acceptable ID
Option 1: If your name appears on the permanent electors register.
One piece of ID issued by a Canadian Government, whether federal, provincial or local, or an agency of that government that contains a photograph of the person. For example, a driver’s license, an Alberta ID card or a Canadian passport.
Option 2: If you are not on the permanent electors register, or you are, but do not have government-issued photo ID
You must complete Form 13 Elector Register at the voting station AND provide:
One piece of identification issued by a Canadian government, whether federal, provincial or local or an agency of that government that contains a photograph of the person, the person’s name and the address of the person’s residence.
OR
One piece of identification from the list below that contains the person’s name and address.
OR
One piece of identification from the list below that contains the person’s name and an eligible voter to vouch, who meets requirements below and completes Form 14 Statement of Voucher.
Forms of Acceptable ID
The following documents are acceptable forms of identification (ID) at a voting station if they include your name and current address.
Government-Issued Documents
- Alberta driver’s license or ID card.
- Fishing, trapping, or hunting license.
- Government cheque or cheque stub.
- Income/property tax assessment notice.
- Letter from a public curator, public guardian or public trustee.
- Statement of government benefits (employment insurance, old-age security, social assistance, disability support or child tax benefits).
Other Documents
- Bank/credit care statement or personal cheque.
- Insurance policy or coverage card.
- Pension Plan statement of benefits, contributions or participation.
- Residential lease or mortgage statement.
Utility bill (phone, television, electric, gas or water). - Vehicle ownership, registration or insurance certificate.
Candidate Information
Qualifications for Candidates:
In order to run for the Village of Delia Council, you must meet these minimum qualifications:
- 18 years of age or older.
- Canadian citizen.
- Are not otherwise ineligible or disqualified
- Have been a resident of the Village of Delia for the six consecutive months preceding Nomination day. (March 22, 2025 or earlier)
Are you Eligible?
A person is ineligible to become a candidate under any of the following circumstances:
- An auditor of the Village of Delia
- An employee of the Village of Delia, unless granted a leave of absence
- If property taxes are more than $50 in arrears or you are in default of more than 90 days for any debt in excess of $500 to the municipality.
- If you have, within the last 10 years, been convicted of an offence under the Local Authorities Election Act, the Election Act, the Election Finances and Contributions Disclosure Act or the Canada Elections Act.
According to the the Local Authorities Election Act the returning officer does not have the authority to challenge the validity of the information provided on nomination papers. The ability to question the eligibility of a candidate or to enforce disqualification, is left to the electors of the municipality.
