David Sisley, Mayor

eMail: dsisley@delia.ca

I was born in December, 1941 at Calgary Alberta. My Father was born and raised in Calgary and my Mother in Huxley, Alberta. I married my wife, Carol, in June 1984. Carol was raised in the Craigmyle area, attended high school in Delia and we have four children.

I was educated in Calgary, having attended high school at Crescent Heights. I then continued on with my education and took two years of Radio Electronics at SAIT. After school, I went on to work in the printing trade for 41 years and owned my own print shop for the last ten of those years in Sicamous, British Columbia. During eight of those years I was on the Sicamous Chamber of Commerce, serving as Vice President and President from 1998 to 2002.

I retired in 2002 and we moved back to Strathmore, Alberta. We purchased our home in Delia in September 2009. Since moving to Delia, I have become a member of Communities in Bloom (now Delia in Bloom), serving for two of those years as President. I am in my third year as a Director of the Delia AG Society and I also volunteer with the Elks Royal Purple Bingos and Pancake Breakfasts.

My mission as Mayor, along with your Council, is to help our beautiful Village grow and prosper becoming the envy of all the other communities in Starland County.

Hi, I’m Jordan Elliott (formerly MacNutt), councillor for the Village of Delia.

I was born in Stettler and have lived and worked in a few places in Southern Alberta including Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. Just over five years ago, my significant other, Carson Elliott, and I decided to move to Delia to pursue a career and we’ve been in love with the community ever since. We decided to purchase a home here in Delia because its central for our jobs but it’s the people that make it a great place to live.

The council and I are working hard to make Delia a great community to live in. It’s a quiet, rural Village but offers so much to people that want to be involved in making a home for their family. As I write this, we’re anticipating our new K to 12 school, we’ve got new homes being built and businesses interested in setting up shop. I am proud to represent the people that live in our Village and hope that by working together, we can continue to make Delia a great place.

Robyn Thompson, Deputy Mayor

Hello! My name is Robyn Thompson and I’m the newest member of Council for the Village of Delia.

I was born and raised in Delia and attended the Delia School from Kindergarten to Grade 12. After graduating high school I attended Brandon University in Manitoba where I earned my Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance and then went on to continue my studies at the Oberlin Conservatory in Oberlin, Ohio.

In 2014 I moved back to Delia to raise my beautiful little girls (Polly & Aria).

I am the current President of the Delia & District Community Centre and I’m also a member of our Delia School Enhancement Society. I currently work full time as a hair stylist and rent a chair at Shandele’s Ol’ Boutique right here in Delia.

I believe that Delia is an amazing place to live. With the new school being built, which includes a fabulous community hub, I feel like Delia has amazing potential for growth. Not only do I want to encourage new families to move here but I also want to help motivate new businesses to open.  I’m excited to be a part of all the amazing things happening in our community and as a council we will continue to work hard to make Delia the best it can be!

Our regular meetings are held every second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm in council chambers!
