Jordan Elliott, Mayor

Hi, I’m Jordan Elliott (formerly MacNutt), councillor for the Village of Delia.

I was born in Stettler and have lived and worked in a few places in Southern Alberta including Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. Just over five years ago, my significant other, Carson Elliott, and I decided to move to Delia to pursue a career and we’ve been in love with the community ever since. We decided to purchase a home here in Delia because its central for our jobs but it’s the people that make it a great place to live.

The council and I are working hard to make Delia a great community to live in. It’s a quiet, rural Village but offers so much to people that want to be involved in making a home for their family. As I write this, we’re anticipating our new K to 12 school, we’ve got new homes being built and businesses interested in setting up shop. I am proud to represent the people that live in our Village and hope that by working together, we can continue to make Delia a great place.

Hello everyone, my name is Jim Adams, and I am your newest Village Councillor.

I was born and raised in Calgary although did live a few years on Vancouver Island.  I worked through the heat and frost insulators union for about 40 years retiring in 2020.

My wife and I moved to Delia in 2021 to enjoy the peaceful country life that this area has to offer.

Throughout my career with the union, I took on a few different roles to stand up for the rights and conditions for my fellow members such as union counsellor, executive board member and job steward. I have always fought to improve workers benefits and conditions and will bring this attitude to my new role. I will strive to make Delia a great place to live for all residents.

Elected: May 27, 2024

Hi, my name is Dave Smeyers. I was elected on May 17, 2024, in the Village of Delia By-election.

I started my working career as a police constable in the military and then the Metropolitan Toronto Police Service for almost a decade.

In the early 80’s I moved to Calgary and went back to school “Devry Institute” taking the Computer Science Degree program. This was the start of my new career in “IT” Information Technology. Over the next 3 decades starting as a computer program, I worked my way through the industry including being the Alberta IT Director for KPMG, then the senior manager for western Canada. In 1998 I got my MCSE+I designation and started SAIT’s fast track MCSE program and was their coordinator / lead instructor.

Since retiring in 2012 I wanted to move to a smaller community and in 2016 while looking for a house I found a home and great community in Delia including finding my soul mate.

I have 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren which I love and who live in Calgary.

As in the police service where the motto is to “serve and protect” I hope to do the same here as your newly elected councilor.

Our regular meetings are held every second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm in council chambers!
